Yesterday I gave an artist Talk at the Emily Carr University in Vancouver for the advanced ceramic students. I talked about my inspirations, my designs and my experience at Medalta Artist-in-residence. It was a great experience for me and I hope for the students aswell!
Aniek Meeldijk graduated at the Willem de Kooning Academy (WdKA) Rotterdam in 2009 with her ‘shadow’ tea set ‘Tea time’, a beautiful example of Dutch Design. For this design she received an award of the city of Rotterdam. Shortly after graduating she went to Jingdezhen in China with the WdKA, the porcelain city of China. In June 2011 she graduated at the Master Visual Arts (Ceramics and Glass Art Department) in Ghent, Belgium.
Aniek’s work is intuitive and begins with a close observation of the world around her.
